Chronology of cameras Carena
The Carena brand is registered in the early 1950s by Coop, a Swiss distribution group resulting from the merger of several companies.
It concerns photographic equipment. It is renewed several times by Coop, then by Interdiscount, a subsidiary of Coop specializing in the sale of electronic and photographic equipment.
Interdiscount was created in 1970 and relies on a dense network of branches. In 1973, there were 42 branches throughout Switzerland. Abroad, Interdiscount relies on existing networks. In Germany, in the early 1980s, Interdiscount acquired shares in the struggling company Photo Porst.
Beneath the guise of this charming little SLR lies a camera manufactured by Petri. It is named the Petri MF-1. It differs in the shape of the film advance lever, the self-timer lever, and the metering button activation.
Made of aluminum alloy and being compact in size, it is very lightweight.
The positioning of its film advance lever (integrated into the back of the top cover) is quite unconventional for an SLR.
Normally, the Carena Micro RSD comes with a Carenar 1.7/50 or 55 mm lens (?).
Between its unveiling at Photokina and its commercial release at the end of 1977, both the Petri and the Carena underwent some changes.
